The holidays are rolling in, and it’s time for you to start thinking about gifts. To make your shopping trips a little easier, we are building a series of guides to help pick out the best and must-have holiday tech presents.
But enough with the introductions, lets get into the good stuff.
If you aren’t a big fan of the Xbox, or you are a bigger of Sony’s exclusive games, the Playstation 4 Pro is the console for you. Just like the Xbox One X, the Pro is a more powerful version of the console, and that means better performance and better graphics in many games. There are fewer games that support 4K and HDR on the platform, but the PS4 Pro is the only way to make the most of the games that are out there.
If you don’t have a 4K television, or you just want to save a bit of cash, the base PS4 Slim is a solid choice. It also features HDR support for select games, is smaller and sleeker than the PS4 Pro, and it will play all the same games. Thanks to some design choices made in the hardware, it actually managed to perform slightly better than the base Xbox, so for all of you Call of Duty and Destiny fans, this is the best “cheap” console choice.
Same as every console out this generation, you are likely going to run out of hard drive space on your system. Any decently fast USB 3.0 drive will work, but remember that paying a little extra for a portable SSD means you get even better performance.
